**** La Mara Springs News Page *****
1/28/12 Yikes, time sure has flown by. Back in Oct.
we went to the Double ALSA Regional Shows - Great Lakes & Buckeye Regions held in Valparaiso IN. Was a fun/great
time!!!!! Took one llama - LAMS Cant' Wait For Nut'n - our 2 yr old suri male sired by LAMS Nutcracker. He is so much
fun to show, he seems to really enjoy it. Well, he did great, not only did he win Grand for both regions, he also was Reserve
Grand for Walking Fleece and he was Best of Show for the Buckeye Region for which he won a portrait of himself to be done
by the talented Photographer/Artist Becky Raber. You can watch the progress of his portrait at her website www.beckyraberartstudio.com . Will have to breed him to some girls in the spring. Then of course it was soon deer hunting time for the guys in this
family. Early Dec. my husband and son took a trip to TN to help my older son build a barn. I was envious and wished I could
of gone but they can cut a straight line with a skillsaw, I can't :) They also stopped by a friend who raises Redbone Coonhounds
in Celina, TN and picked up a puppy. Now that will add excitement to your life,
actually he is pretty good. Then came Christmas & New Years all of which was quiet and relaxing for a change.
Went to some dog shows too with my Afghan Hound Mariah. She almost has her UKC Championship, just needs one more
win. Of course my son showed his female Redbone Coonhound Tillie and she has completed her UKC Bench Championship and UKC
Conformation Championship. The new puppy is not old enough yet to show. Hasn't been too bad of winter in WI, really didn't
get any snow til Jan. and the temps have not been as cold this year. Sold all the young male llamas I had & also some
llama fiber. Looking forward to the show season to start and the first crias due in May. So that pretty much catches us up
to now.
9/24/11 Another fun filled
LFA weekend has come and gone. The weather was very cool but the llamas loved it. LAMS Lucky Strike took 1st in the
Claims Futurity, 2nd in walking suri fleece and was purchased by Ken Austin who entered him in the regular Futurity on Sun
and LAMS Lucky Strike placed 4th in that. Way to go! Good purchase for Ken. Ming's China Doll got 3rd in the Fall
Harvest Show, was 1st and Reserve Champion walking suri fleece and placed 7th in the Futurity. Not bad for only being
6 mos old. LAMS Can't Wait For Nut'n was 1st Adult Suri Male in Fall Harvest Show, 3rd in walking suri fleece over 24
mos., and was 2nd in the Futurity on Sun. Only beaten by his maternal brother AAL Nuttin's Easy - who then won Best In Show....congratulations
to Barb & Tom Parsons. Both Nuttin's Easy & Can't Wait For Nut'n are sired by LAMS Nutcracker. Silver Moon's Sassafras
sold in the Auction to Bob LaMorte. She is bred to GC's Gold Strike...thank you Bob! Awesome purchase. Bob and
Toni Skousen...who now own LAMS Nutcracker came and brought a number of Nutcrackers offspring. They did very well in the Futurity,
was fun to hear the announcer repeatedly say "sired by LAMS Nutcracker". Been busy at home catching up on getting things done around the farm before Winter arrives...not far off. Plans are next
year to add some Wensleydale Sheep to our farm since I am unable to get the husband to commit to moving to TN. So looking
forward to there arrival. That will be a bit different experience. 8/12/11 Well where did the Summer go? Here it is almost
midway into August and the weather is already turning cooler. Sorry I haven't updated this news section but it has been
a busy summer. Made several trips to Tennessee.....what a beautiful state and the people are so friendly. My youngest
son Sean bought a redbone coonhound pup down there so we have been busy showing her at UKC Coonhound Bench
Shows and am proud to say at 8 mos of age and only 3 shows she is now a Champion. Her name is Copeland's
TN Run Tillie. Also went to a couple of AKC shows with my Afghan Hound Mariah. Went to a couple of Llama
shows and did very well with the llamas. I will have to work at updating the Show page for 2011 as well. Mostly been
a lot of family stuff going on this summer more than usual, but that is OK. Next Llama show is Lamafest in East
Lansing MI Labor Day weekend and then LFA in Cedar Rapids IA Sept 16-18. Have a couple of dog shows in Aug. too. Tomorrow
I judge the 4-H llama show at WI State Fair. So it has been a very busy summer.....hard to remember where and when
I am suppose to be sometimes:)
5/25/11 Didn't get to go to the
Ozark show due to death in family. Was able to take 5 llamas to Badgerland show and they all did great and qualified
for ALSA Grand Nationals to be held in OCT. 2011. Will add a 2011 show page soon when I get the show pictures so be
sure to watch for the show results. .
4/9/11 Celebration
Show, Sale & Futurity are now history. A yearling Nutcracker daughter owned by Sharon VanHooser won her Furturity class
--- was very exciting, congrats! Our LAMS Spicey & Nut Too Sweet (co-owned with Barb Parsons) placed 6th in the
16-24 mo. Suri Female class. Also Congrats to all the exhibitors and their llamas that placed in the top 10 of all the
Futurity Classes. Was an exceptional display of top quality llamas from all over the US and Canada.
3/22/11 LAMS Char Ming (dam of LAMS Nutcracker) on 2/28/11 gave birth to a gorgeous suri black
& white female cria sired by Maddix. Watch for her in the shows this fall. She has "the look, conformation &
attitude" to match her brother's achievements.

** Update 2/28/11 ** Herd Sale in progress. Good homes a must!
When one reaches a certain age it begins to get more difficult to do the things one enjoys, so then it is
time to make adjustments. Finding new homes for these llamas is an adjustment that needs to be made as well as making a move
further South. About 19 in all, ages weanling to seniors (which may stay with us just because), herdsires, breeding females, geldings.
They have all been in the show ring and have proved themselves there and are proving to be great producers as well. Check
the sale pages and give us a call.
Offers welcome. I have spent 17 yrs through selective breeding to build
this quality herd. I am very proud of every llama in this herd. Oh to have had them when I was first starting out. All I am
asking for is a fare price and good homes. I will not give them away but I am open to reasonable offers....and willing to
make considerations for the right homes. I know there is a special home out there for each of them.
This is not an easy
thing for me to do. I have to trust that God will find them good homes.

Update 10/10:
Have 3 older females (Lauran's Liza, LAMS Golden Child, LAMS Sysika)

and good pesonalities. They are looking for a perminant retirement home. Liza would still work as a guard
llama, but the other 2 would not. All 3 are healthy, no problems....just getting on in years is all. 2 are

"Update" 8/14/10 - Due to family
matters and life we have had our plans to sell the farm and move to TN put on hold. Still dreaming of making the move to TN, but for this year it will have to wait.
Hopefully God willing we can do so next year.
Time sure is flying by. Seems that in our younger years time did not
move fast enough. Then in our middle years it was rush, rush and not enough time in our busy schedules.
Now, it seems that time is just flying by and we would like to slow it down; there are so many things we still want to do
and enjoy before time runs out. What lies
ahead is both exciting and scary. It is hard to make changes. God willing, llamas will stay in our lives, but of course
it will have to be at a different level. Maybe, God willing, we will be able to live someplace a little warmer
too. (like Tennessee)
We hate parting with some of theseawesome creatures and are doing our best to ensure that they are placed in good homes.
Aside from my children and my grandchildren, (and a few good dogs and a
couple of special horses) llamas have been the highlight of my life. Llamas have intruduced us to many new places,
new friends, and a few very special friends. The llama community is full of many wonderful people. Thank
you, to all the people that have purchased llamas form us over the years and given them good homes. Many of you have shared
info and pictures of their crias, and I greatly appreciate that.
We still have many llamas that must leave us during our transition into retirement, so please give us a call and we will
be glad to chat with you about them. Champion Bloodlines & Award Winning Fiber; Proven Herdsires, Bred Females, &
offspring; Showing, Breeding, Livestock Guardians, Pets/companions. Buy one, several...You can not have them all...I need to keep some to stay sane. See something you like - make us an offer.
What the heck, you don't know if you don't
ask.
